AI solutions for energy and utilities built for remote, safety-critical, OT-connected assets

We build AI solutions for energy and utilities operators whose assets sit hours from the nearest engineer: predictive monitoring that raises a work order before the alarm, barrier health tracking for process safety, AI-assisted root-cause analysis after an event, and camera analytics that catch a missing helmet or a spill. Everything runs inside the OT boundary your security team has drawn.

Distributed assets, thin connectivity and no room for a wrong alert

A gas plant, a substation fleet or a water network produces telemetry from thousands of tags, but the link to the control room is narrow and sometimes down. When something fails, the root-cause review takes weeks of reading logs. AI for oil and gas operations and utilities analytics earns trust only when it respects the safety case and the OT network.

Where we deliver: in UAE, under UAE Information Assurance standard and the National Encryption Policy of November 2025; in Saudi Arabia, under NCA ECC-2:2024, its OT controls and the SDAIA PDPL; in India, under CEA cyber security regulations and the DPDP Act 2023, with power named a critical sector in the February 2026 DST quantum-safe roadmap; and in United States, aligned to NERC CIP and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Our offices are on the locations page.

Six energy and utilities workflows we engineer inside the OT boundary

Each card ends in an action a person approves.

01

Asset health monitoring

Rotating equipment, transformers and pumps tracked against their own baselines, with Facility AI predicting issues before they become critical alarms and alerting over WhatsApp, SMS, email or mobile app.

02

Sensor and telemetry analytics

Historian and SCADA tags, gateway sensors and inspection records joined in a time-series platform, with barrier health indicators derived from them so safety barriers are monitored dynamically rather than audited annually. Barrier monitoring AI with the safety case as its source.

03

Demand and load forecasting

Electricity, gas and water demand forecast by feeder, district or plant with weather, calendar and tariff inputs, error reported in megawatts or cubic meters.

06

Operational reporting and anomaly alerts

Camera analytics for PPE, fire and smoke, spills and restricted-zone entry on existing cameras through VisionGuard AI, plus AI-assisted root-cause analysis that assembles the incident timeline from logs and telemetry.

IoT data, edge computing, video analytics and quantum-safe security from one team

Our energy work combines IoT ingestion over MQTT, time-series platforms, edge deployment, computer vision and secure integration with an OT security practice that has assessed ICS environments in Saudi Arabia. The same group runs our post-quantum cryptography research, so the inventory of SCADA, substation and remote-access cryptography happens alongside the monitoring build.

The PQC timeline is real for energy. NIST's draft IR 8547 deprecates RSA-2048 and P-256 after 2030 and disallows them after 2035, India's DST roadmap names power among the critical sectors to begin PQC implementation by 2027, and field devices installed today will still be in service then. Our post-quantum cryptography service covers inventory, crypto-agility design and migration planning.

A worked example: from a compressor trip to barrier-aware predictive monitoring

Suppose a gas facility loses production to repeated compressor trips, and each root-cause review takes three weeks. Here is how that becomes barrier monitoring with predictive alerts and an AI-assisted RCA.

  1. 01

    Quantify the trips

Trip count, production lost per trip, time to root cause and barriers involved are counted for one compressor train, which becomes the pilot.

  2. 02

    Map tags, barriers and systems

Historian tags, SCADA alarms, maintenance records and the safety case barriers for that train are mapped, with the OT network zones data may cross.

  3. 03

    Define indicators and targets

Barrier health indicators are derived with your process safety engineers. Targets: early-warning lead time, false alerts per week and time to root cause, baselined on the last 12 months.

  4. 04

    Prototype on historian data

Models baseline the train from historian history and replay past trips to see which would have been flagged and how early, before anything runs live.

  5. 05

    Validate OT security and safety

Read-only historian access, DMZ placement and alert paths are reviewed against NCA ECC-2:2024 OT controls or NERC CIP, and process safety confirms no alert can act on the control system.

  6. 06

    Integrate with operations

Barrier status appears on the operations dashboard, predictive alerts create CMMS work orders, and the RCA assistant assembles the event timeline for the review team.

  7. 07

    Monitor and extend

Lead time, false alert rate and RCA duration are reviewed monthly. The next unit joins once the first holds through a full maintenance cycle.

How value is measured on a safety-critical asset

Success is counted in asset availability, forecast reliability, alert lead time and false-alert rate, inspection hours saved, root-cause review duration and whether the integration passed your OT security review. The baseline comes from your historian and maintenance records, and we test through a sandstorm, a summer peak and a planned shutdown. If an asset's telemetry is too sparse to baseline, we recommend sensors rather than fitting a model to noise.

Governance for OT networks, process safety and the cryptographic migration

Nothing we deploy writes to a control system. Data leaves the OT zone through a read-only historian interface or a data diode into a DMZ, alerts go to people, and every automated work order carries its evidence. Video analytics runs on site, with biometric features enabled only under consent and a lawful basis.

By market: NCA ECC-2:2024 and its OT controls, the SDAIA PDPL and the Saudi Energy Regulatory Authority in Saudi Arabia; UAE Information Assurance standard, NESA-derived controls and UAE PDPL in UAE; CEA regulations, CERT-In directions and the DPDP Act 2023 in India; and NERC CIP, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and FIPS 203 and 204 in United States. Every proposal passes your OT security and process safety review first.

Why energy and utilities operators work with Constient

Because we have built infrastructure monitoring for distributed GCC sites with MQTT, TimescaleDB and edge proxies, assessed OT/ICS cybersecurity in Saudi Arabia and shipped the Facility AI and VisionGuard AI products that carry those lessons. One accountable group covers sensors, cameras, data, security and the application the maintenance team opens.

Quantum work for operators is research-led today. There are no field deployments to cite, and we would rather benchmark than promise. What we offer today is a cryptographic inventory, a risk assessment and a migration plan built on published NIST standards and your regulator's dates.

Frequently asked questions

How does an energy or utilities engagement with Constient start?

With a discovery session on one asset class or site: the compressor that trips, the feeders that overload or the inspection round that takes a week. We map historian tags, OT zones and systems, agree a baseline from your maintenance records and scope a fixed-price pilot that replays history before anything runs live.

Will your systems connect to our SCADA or control network?

Read-only, and only through the path your OT security team approves: a historian interface, a data diode or a DMZ replica. We never write to a control system, and alerts go to people and the CMMS rather than back into the plant. This is documented in the architecture and reviewed against NCA ECC-2:2024 OT controls, NERC CIP or CEA regulations.

Does operational data leave our country or our site?

No. Edge processing keeps raw telemetry and video on site, and the platform runs in your data center or in-country cloud tenant. For Saudi and UAE operators that is a regulatory requirement we design for from the start; for Indian utilities it follows CEA and DPDP Act 2023 guidance. Data flows are documented for your reviews.

What do you need from us for predictive maintenance?

Historian access covering at least 12 months, maintenance and failure records with dates, the barrier register for the unit, and a reliability engineer who can tell us which events mattered. Where failure history is thin we start with anomaly detection against each asset's baseline and build toward prediction as events accumulate.

How is energy and utilities work priced?

Discovery and the single-unit pilot are fixed price. Rollout across units or sites is a fixed-price build with a support agreement or a dedicated engineering team billed monthly. Facility AI and VisionGuard AI are licensed per capability on subscription, with pricing confirmed after the site survey. Cryptographic inventory and risk assessment are fixed-price packages.
