Healthcare AI solutions for the operations around care, not the diagnosis
We build healthcare AI solutions that take administrative weight off clinical teams: referral and claims documents read and routed, bed and theater capacity forecast, approved protocols searchable in seconds, research datasets cleaned and governed. Patient data stays where the law says it must, and a clinician remains the decision-maker. We do not build autonomous diagnosis or treatment systems.
Why healthcare data is fragmented, sensitive and still worth joining
A hospital group runs an EMR, a lab system, a radiology archive, a billing platform and an insurer portal, and the people connecting them are nurses with spreadsheets. Administrative work consumes clinical hours, and every dataset carries health information that cannot leave the country or the consent it was collected under. Medical document processing AI and operations analytics pay off here, if privacy is designed in rather than added.
Where we deliver: in UAE, under UAE PDPL and the federal health data law that keeps health information in-country unless an exception applies; in Saudi Arabia, under the SDAIA PDPL, NCA ECC-2:2024 and the Ministry of Health's digital health programs under Vision 2030; in India, under the DPDP Act 2023 and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission standards for health records; and in United States, under HIPAA with business associate agreements in place before any data is shared. Six workflows where healthcare AI solutions reduce administrative load
Each card is a bounded operational workflow with a human reviewer and an audit trail. None makes a clinical decision.
Administrative document automation
Referral letters, insurer pre-authorizations, claims and discharge summaries are extracted, checked against patient and payer records and routed to the right queue. Low-confidence fields go to a person. See intelligent document processing.
Operational analytics and capacity planning
Admissions, length of stay and theater utilization forecast by ward and specialty, so bed managers plan the week rather than the morning. Forecast error is reported in beds, not percentages.
Learn more →03Knowledge search for approved content
Clinical protocols, formularies and policies searchable through a retrieval-grounded assistant that cites the approved document and version, refuses to answer outside it, and respects role permissions at query time.
Learn more →04Clinical research data processing
Trial and registry data de-identified, validated and loaded into a governed lakehouse with lineage, so biostatisticians work from one trusted dataset and the ethics committee can see what was done to it.
Learn more →Scheduling and resource analytics
Clinic templates, no-show patterns and staff rosters analyzed together to reduce idle slots and overtime, with recommendations a department manager accepts or rejects rather than an automatic reschedule.
Interoperable applications for care operations
Portals, referral trackers and integration services built on HL7 FHIR, connecting EMR, lab and billing systems with identity and logging controls your information security team approves.
Learn more →Privacy-aware data engineering as the foundation
Every healthcare build starts with the data path: where records live, who may see them, how they are de-identified and where the processing runs. Our data engineering, document intelligence, analytics and application teams work from that one design, so the extraction model, the forecast and the portal share the same access rules and the same audit log.
We are not clinical software vendors. Clinical workflow automation here means the paperwork, scheduling and reporting around care. Where a workflow touches clinical judgment, a named clinician on your side reviews the design and the output.
A worked example: from pre-authorization backlog to a measured claims workflow
A hospital group's revenue cycle team spends evenings re-keying insurer pre-authorization forms. Here is how that becomes a document workflow with a human reviewer, measured against the backlog it replaced.
- 01
Quantify the backlog
Forms per day, re-keying minutes per form, rejection rate from the insurer and days to payment. One specialty and one payer are chosen as the pilot scope.
- 02
Map the systems and the data law
EMR, billing platform and payer portal mapped for interfaces. Health data classification, residency requirement and consent basis documented with your privacy officer before any sample leaves the hospital network.
- 03
Define the pilot metrics
Field-level extraction accuracy, share of forms completed without human edits, rejection rate and processing time, with the baseline taken from the last quarter.
- 04
Prototype on de-identified forms
Historic forms are de-identified inside your environment and run through the extraction pipeline, with confidence per field and a review queue for anything below threshold.
- 05
Validate privacy and access
Your information security and compliance teams review data flows, role-based access, logging and retention against HIPAA, UAE PDPL or the DPDP Act 2023 as applicable.
- 06
Integrate with billing and the payer portal
Validated fields populate the billing platform and payer submission through approved interfaces, with the original form and extraction record attached for audit.
- 07
Monitor and extend
Rejection rate, review workload and days to payment are tracked monthly. The next payer or specialty is added only when the first holds its numbers.
How value is measured without touching clinical outcomes
Success is counted in staff hours returned to care, data quality defects removed, process delays shortened, privacy incidents avoided and how often a reviewer accepts the system's output. We never claim a clinical outcome; the measures are operational and the baseline is yours.
We evaluate under realistic conditions: handwritten additions, scanned faxes, mixed Arabic and English forms, month-end volumes. If a document type cannot reach the agreed accuracy, it stays with a person.
Governance under HIPAA, PDPL and the DPDP Act
Health data gets the strictest handling we offer: processing inside your region, de-identification before any model work, role-based access tied to your directory, immutable logs and retention schedules written down before the first record moves. A clinician or clinical governance lead reviews any output that could influence care.
By market, we design against HIPAA and the HITECH breach rules in United States, with a business associate agreement signed first; UAE PDPL and federal health data law in UAE, plus NESA and UAE Information Assurance controls for government providers; the SDAIA PDPL, NCA ECC-2:2024 and Ministry of Health requirements in Saudi Arabia; and the DPDP Act 2023 and ABDM record standards in India. Every proposal is reviewed by your compliance function before deployment.
Why healthcare and life sciences organizations work with Constient
Because we build the data foundation and the application together, and we are honest about scope. Our teams have delivered governed data platforms, document extraction pipelines and secure enterprise applications for regulated clients, and we bring that discipline to health data without pretending to be clinicians.
You get one accountable group for data engineering, AI in healthcare software development and integration, with privacy decisions documented so your compliance team can defend them. Accuracy is measured on your documents during the pilot, never quoted in advance.
Frequently asked questions
Does patient data ever leave our country or our environment?
Not without your written agreement and a lawful basis. By default, processing runs in your region and your tenant, and model work happens on de-identified data inside your network. For UAE and Saudi clients that means in-country infrastructure; for US clients a business associate agreement is signed before any protected health information is handled. Data flows are documented for your privacy officer.
Will your systems make or suggest clinical decisions?
No. We build the operational layer around care: documents, capacity, scheduling, knowledge search and research data. Where an output could influence a clinical choice, such as a protocol search result, it cites the approved source and a clinician remains responsible. We do not build autonomous diagnosis, triage or treatment systems, and we say so in the contract.
How do you integrate with our EMR and billing systems?
Through HL7 FHIR or HL7 v2 interfaces, vendor APIs or your integration engine, with read-only access first. Where an EMR vendor restricts access, we work from exports or a reporting replica. We confirm interface availability and licensing during discovery so the pilot is not blocked halfway through by a contract clause.
How long does a healthcare AI pilot take and what does it cost?
Discovery and pilot are fixed price and typically scoped to 10 to 14 weeks, allowing time for privacy review and de-identification. Production work is a fixed-price build with support or a dedicated team billed monthly. We budget privacy and security review as a line item rather than hoping it fits.
Can the knowledge assistant answer in Arabic and Indian languages?
Yes. Our retrieval-grounded assistants work in English, Arabic and major Indian languages, answering only from documents you have approved and citing the version used. Speech input and output are available where staff prefer voice. Language coverage and accuracy are tested on your own protocols during the pilot.
Build a healthcare technology roadmap that starts with one backlog
Bring the document queue, the bed-planning problem or the research dataset. We will map the systems and the data law, then propose a bounded pilot.
